A TEENAGE girl was in court yesterday accused of drunk and disorderly behaviour after a late-night incident at a Darlington takeaway.

The 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty to acting in a disorderly manner outside Best Kebab, in Northgate.

James Thomas, prosecuting, told Darlington Youth Court that the manager of the takeaway told the police that the girl threw chips at staff, and was shouting, swearing and banging on the windows of the shop.

When police arrived, she continued to be abusive and was arrested.

Chris Bunting, in mitigation, said the defendant told him she had ordered and paid for cheesy chips but had not received her food, and when she asked staff, they said she had been given them.

He told the court: "She does deny she ever threw any food. She totally disputes that that happened because she never had any food to throw. But she accepts that she was shouting a lot and being aggressive."

The teenager was given a three-month referral order and ordered to pay £20 costs.
