PLANS for sporting facilities to be provided on a Darlington estate are to go before councillors next week.
The proposals for the car park area of the Maidendale House community centre, on the Firthmoor estate, involve the construction of a multi-use games area.
Floodlights, a small spectators' shelter and 26 new parking spaces - including two for disabled people - would also be provided on the site, which is close to Firthmoor Primary School.
The scheme will be considered by Darlington Borough Council's planning committee, which meets on Wednesday.
A report to the committee urges councillors to approve the development, saying the games area would be similar to a number of facilities that have been created at local schools in recent times.
The report adds that the scheme would be "unlikely to significantly increase the amount of traffic travelling through this residential area".
