A PUB which was once crowned the best in its county has been named the best in its town.
The Crown, in Manfield, near Darlington, won the county category and overall pub of the year competition run by Darlington Campaign for Real Ale.
Members of the Camra group voted on the winning pubs. The Crown, in North Yorkshire, reclaimed its county category title by defeating last year's winner the Landgon Beck Hotel and the Stanwick Inn to win the award.
In the town category, the Quaker House held on to its title by triumphing over Number Twenty-2 and the Britannia.
The Crown took the overall title from the Quaker House. The Crown won the same title in 2005 and 2007.
As a result of taking the title, The Crown goes forward into the Yorkshire Pub of the Year competition, a title it won in 2005. The Quaker House enters the North-East pub of the year.
