A SWEDISH politician has travelled more than 1,000 miles to watch Darlington Football Club.
Andreas Trygg, Mayor of Koping, in Central Sweden will take in two games on his trip to the region.
Mr Trygg, 34, on Monday visited his Darlington counterpart, Councillor Jim Ruck, to discuss economic problems in his native Sweden and possible regeneration plans.
Mr Trygg has been a huge fan of the Quakers for about 20 years. His love of the club started when his parents bought him a computer game, in which he was assigned the job of managing Darlington.
Mr Trygg said: "I've been a massive fan since I was fourteen or fifteen. I follow the matches on the internet ever since then and try to get over at least once a year."
He was present at the match against Chesterfield on Saturday, and will visit the Northern Echo Arena on Tuesday night, to see the Quakers take on Notts County. He will return home on Wednesday.
Coun Ruck said the two had enjoyed a good political discussion.
