YOUNG performers are being invited to attend a summer holiday arts project to create a theatre production in just one week.

Studio Un-scene will teach children aged from eight to 16 in dance, drama, singing, music technology, film, photography, costume and technical theatre.

The project launches on Friday, July 31, with a welcome workshop, before sessions run throughout the following week. A final performance will be staged on Friday, August 7.

Darlington Arts Academy, a local not-for-profit group, will lead the project, which takes place at Hummersknott School.

Director Rebecca McGarvie said: "Following the sold out performances of our end of term showcase last week we are excited to be welcoming new members into the Academy for our summer school.

"Last year's project Planet X was a great success as many young people with little or no experience came along, made new friends, learnt new skills and had a fantastic time.

"We are also keen to hear from those aged 16+ who are interested in arts leadership and might like to join our Summer Internship Scheme and volunteer on the project."

Places are £50 per person. To book contact 01325-262719 or email info@meltingpotarts.com.
