A PRIMARY school has won a top arts award for a third consecutive time.

Croft Primary School has been credited with an Artsmark gold award for the work it does across a range of arts.

The award lasts for three years. It is the third time the school has applied for and been granted the recognition.

The Arts Council recognises schools with a high level of provision in the arts.

Croft Primary School, in North Yorkshire, provides lessons in arts, drama, music, dance and creative writing. It also has visits from professional artists, a pottery club, and took part in a music festival with other schools.

Lessons in other subjects also combine with art projects, such as film animation, creative writing and IT presentations.

Head teacher Brenda Higgins said: "All the staff are fully committed to do things for the arts award.

"The whole school has motivated the children to be creative. You get children to learn life skills."
