ART students are urging people to stand up to hatred as the Holocaust is remembered tomorrow.
To mark the international Holocaust Memorial Day, an exhibition of works on the topic Stand Up to Hatred have been created by art and design BTEC Diploma students at Queen Elizabeth College.
The work, which includes fine art, graphics, photography, textiles and fashion, examines the student's reflections on the Holocaust and is intended to promote a democratic society which respects and celebrates diversity.
The Holocaust Memorial Day remembers victims of the Holocaust and other genocides on the anniversary of the date of the liberation of the Nazi death camp Auschwitz-Birkenau.
On this day victims are commemorated, survivors honoured and a commitment is made to tackling prejudice, discrimination and racism in the present day.
Rita Smith, director of creative arts at Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College said: “This is an impressive, thought-provoking and moving exhibition which delivers a powerful message and reflects on continuing issues of inhumanity and prejudice.
“The students have succeeded in expressing the sadness and pain felt for every single life lost because of hatred and the resulting conflict."
The exhibition on display in the Glass Corridor Gallery in the Arts Centre in Vane Terrace, Darlington is open to the public until Saturday, February 21.
Ends.
