LIBRARIANS have put their stamp on a national award after using a computer booking system in an unusual way.
The team from Queen Elizabeth College won cash towards a computer software upgrade after being presented with an award for innovation by computer company Softlink at the British Education Technology and Training exhibition, in London.
The software company, who make the Oliver system which is used by the college library, awarded joint first to Queen Elizabeth because of the use of the system outside the library.
It is used to administer lockers, loan equipment including laptops and textbooks. The college also uses the programme to embed interactive reading lists on the college intranet.
Librarian, Jane Spellman, who accepted the prize on behalf of the Library Team and the college, said: “We were delighted to win this award for innovative use of the Oliver library computer system. As well as a trophy and a certificate, we won 75 percent of the costs of a software upgrade, worth about £500.”
Assistant Principal, Jackie Wilson said: “Jane and her team are superb professionals and a great asset to the college and students.
“This award is acknowledgment of their work and dedication and is very well-deserved.”
