A DARLINGTON arts centre has created a touching tree sculpture to allow those who know someone who is battling cancer or those who are currently battling cancer, to leave a personal message.

Cornerstone Arts Centre in Darlington held the World’s Biggest Coffee morning last Friday September 25, which saw events such as tombola, quizzes, and adding leaves to the Tree of Life sculpture created by Andy Boylett.

The tree will stay standing throughout October for those who may want to leave a message for loved ones, and donations to Macmillan Cancer Support are also still open.

Zara Hardy aged 30, said "The coffee morning went really well, we still have our donation pots out and we're still raising what we can. Half of what we raise is still going into the Macmillan fund.

"We all think the tree is amazing, we thought it would be nice for people to put a note or name of someone who fought cancer, whether they won the fight or whether they sadly lost the fight."
