VENUES are putting on online crafts and story times to keep children entertained over Easter weekend.

Darlington Libraries and the town's Head of Steam museum is hosting the events to help families while they are stuck inside for most of the bank holiday weekend.

Among the planned events are story times and some craft sessions.

The Easter and spring themed online activities take place on the library's Bookstart in Darlington Facebook page. There will be a story time with Suzy and Big Ron followed by a themed craft activity on Good Friday and Easter Sunday, from noon.

Head of Steam aims to do a crafty activity at 9am each day and then a collections post at the end of the day 3pm, which will be available on Facebook and its website- www.headofsteam.co.uk - and will be scheduling video crafts for next week.

On Monday they will be making pen pots out of large yoghurt pots, gravy granule tubs or small boxes – whatever is handy. Participants will also need old magazines, comics or coloured paper.

On Tuesday children can make chocolate pennies and will need chocolates and things to decorate with, like sprinkles or dried fruit.
