A GIRL has won a place on the podium in several recent sporting events, gaining her national recognition.
Charlotte Rutter, Darlington Harriers and Athletics Club member, took home bronze in the Northern Pentathlon Championship at the England Athletics Indoor Combined Events.
The athletic series was held in Sheffield in March 14, and included 60 metre hurdles, high jump, shot put, long jump and an 800 metre run.
The news comes in succession of Ms Rutter’s “tremendous performance” in the English Indoor Athletics Championships earned her a top ten national ranking on February 24.
The North-East Under 17 60 metre hurdles champion made it to the semi-final and then final, with a time of 8.85 seconds.
This places her eighth in her age group for the UK.
Earlier in the month, Ms Rutter also won gold in the Under 17 60 metre hurdles at the North East Indoor Championships.
Darlington Harriers, formed in 1891, is based at Eastbourne Complex Darlington and has over 400 members from ages eight to over 80, with specific clubs for juniors and seniors.
