THE sound of Dublin will come to town for one night only, as a theatre's stage will be transformed into a pubg for a night of high-energy Irish Music and more than a little bit of Irish Craic.

The multi-award-winning Irish band The Wild Murphys, will bring their One Night in Dublin to the Darlington Hippodrome on Wednesday, January 22.

The seven-piece live band is headed by lead singer Middi Murphy armed with blarney, banter and an accordion, alongside Trevor Brewis (Jimmy Nail) on drums, Tony Davis (Prelude) on keys and the BBC award-winning fiddle player Sophy Ball on fiddle.

Middi Murphy said: “I can't believe we're going to be playing at one of the best theatres in the country and it just happens to be my local theatre. I was born and raised in Hurworth only four miles from the Hippodrome and I have been there in the audience on so many occasions most memorably to see The Rocky Horror Show every time it came around and also every year to see my hero Ken Dodd.

"The last time I stood on the Hippodrome stage was in 1991, when I was in a school production of La Boheme.

"It'll be quite an emotional night for me. Everyone wants their hometown show to go well and it’s already looking like it’s going to be a super busy night, so we're really hoping to bring the house down."

Tickets can be booked either via the Hippodrome's box office or online at darlingtonhippodrome.co.uk
