A CHARITY is more than £1,000 better off thanks to the efforts of building society staff in Darlington.
Darlington Building Society entered a team of more than 30 employees, friends and children in this year's Race for Life, which was held in South Park.
The group joined more than 4,000 other women at the 5km race in aid of Cancer Research UK, which is expected to have raised nearly £255,000.
Chris Bielby, accounts clerk at Darlington Building Society, said: "The level of support we attracted this year for Race for Life was up, with the number in our team increasing to 38 from 28 last year. We are pleased to have raised £1,160."
Holly Scholes, organiser of the Darlington Race for Life, said: "Race for Life is such a unique and inspiring event, with women uniting behind the same cause."
