PEOPLE interested in their family's past will have an opportunity to delve into their ancestry at Crown Street Library, in Darlington, on November 17.
The Northumberland and Durham Family History Society is holding an event called Who Do You Think You Are, aimed at helping people research more than their family tree.
Whether people are interested in certain dates, the origins of a family name or stories passed down through generations, the session will be of help to everyone.
To help researchers, the society is offering assistance with the downloads of census records, searches of family history databases, as well as free surname maps and free searches of the origins and meaning of surnames.
Places are limited and must be booked in advance by calling the Centre for Local Studies at the library on 01325-349630.
The North East War Memorials Project will also have a display and will be on hand to discuss their work.
