DOGS Trust Darlington’s resident with the biggest ears, Thomas the five-year-old lurcher, is hoping to sound out a new home to call his own.

Thomas, who is quite timid when meeting new people, does have a playful side and his love of squeaky toys is the key to making friends.

The trust’s canine carers are keeping their own ears to the ground for an owner who believes a dog is for life.

A spokesman said: “Thomas is looking for a quiet, adult-only home that has a calm atmosphere with minimal visitors. Once settled he will be looking for an active lifestyle, as he does have plenty of energy and enjoys his exercise. A home where his humans are around for most of the day would be just the ticket as he really enjoys companionship.

“We really hope that this rehoming appeal doesn’t fall on deaf ears and that Thomas gets to meet his perfect match.”

Thomas is just one of more than 60 dogs currently looking for a home both at the rehoming centre.
