FANS of Alice in Wonderland are in for a treat later this month when the characters take centre stage at a children's theatre.

The Hullabaloo theatre in Darlington is celebrating the author and his work with their magical one-day family event – A Hullabaloo in Wonderland.

The half-day sessions, created for ages from birth to ten years and their grown-ups, are designed so families can make their own mad hats, dance and move down the rabbit hole, follow a curious trail and meet familiar characters along the way.

Organisers will be challenging to find their way in the Enchanted Forest, The Hullabaloo’s interactive Creative Play installation, where there will be plenty of surprises in store.

Miranda Thain, artistic producer at Theatre Hullabaloo said: “The tales of Alice’s adventures in Wonderland have inspired generations of children. With their fantastical characters and nonsensical fun, the world of Wonderland felt like the perfect theme for a family adventure at The Hullabaloo.”

The special event will take place on Saturday, April 27 during two sessions. The morning session takes place fro 10am until noon and the afternoon session takes place from 1pm to 3pm.

Locals of the area though know the famous author better as Charles Dodgson, a man who spent his youth in Croft-on-Tees.

While he would eventually move down to Oxford taking elements of his childhood with him which would later inspire his books, his father remains buried in the village.

Tickets are priced at £7. To book visit www.theatrehullabaloo.org.uk or call the Box Office on 01325-405405.
