AN URGENT call has been issued for more people to join a network of volunteers providing support for the Armed Forces community.

SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, is appealing for Darlington residents to become case workers to help them to continue their work with veterans and their families in the borough.

As well as volunteer case workers, the Darlington division of SSAFA are also looking to recruit a new divisional secretary.

Divisional secretaries are responsible for the day-to-day running of the division and provide support to all the other volunteers in the area.

Tracey Berridge, deputy director of volunteer operations at SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, said: “We are in urgent need of more dedicated volunteers in Darlington and North Durham, so SSAFA can continue to reach more veterans and families in need of help.

"They have sacrificed a great deal for us, and now it’s our turn to support them. Please get in touch with our team to find out more.”
