A BUDDY Bookmarks project is being launched today in a bid to show how not all friendships and relationships are healthy.

The Darlington Soroptimists are being the project, which is backed by the Mayor of Darlington, Councillor Veronica Copeland.

The scheme is being launched this morning in the Dolphin Centre's Seminar Room, with representatives from the YMCA, NSPCC, Health Darlington and Darlington Borough Council all being the initiative.

The bookmarks illustrate in a "colourful and innovative way" the characteristics of good friends and the signs that someone may be taking advantage or becoming abusive.

The bookmarks will be taken into schools and used to start conversations about friendship. Darlington Soroptimists’ Loves Me, Loves Me Not project has been running since 2013.

Thousand of bookmarks and posters have been, and continue to be distributed in schools, colleges, prisons and dozens of other outlets across the country.
