TWO generations have come together to share in the Christmas spirit.

Three and four-year-olds from the Maidendale Nursery in Darlington treated tenants at Rosemary Court extra care housing with a traditional nativity performance.

The pre-school youngsters sang a selection of festive songs to the appreciative audience and young and old alike also enjoyed a special visit from Mr P, a nine-year-old Shetland pony.

The young performers have been visiting tenants at the sheltered housing scheme since November, when a partnership was struck up between the nursery and charity Making Space, which provides the care packages at Rosemary Court.

Stacey Beckwith, manager of the nursery based at Firthmoor Community Centre, said: “It was a fabulous morning and we’ve all really enjoyed ourselves.

“The highlight for the children was undoubtedly when the pony had a little accident on the stage.”
