A FUNDING boost means a group helping socially isolated, disabled, ill and elderly women can continue for another year.

Pimm's and Needles has secured funding from the County Durham Community Foundation for their silver members club after its initial six month run proved hugely popular.

The club aims to tackle isolation by engaging its members with a variety of activities, from baking to chocolate making and crafting.

Founders Donna Feeney and Charlotte Pyrah thanked the CDCF for the grant, with Ms Feeney saying: "Our silver members club is aimed at elderly ladies who might be socially isolated, bereaved, ill or disabled and we've had ladies from nursing homes who love the change of scenery.

"It is something we have really enjoyed hosting as the ladies often surprise themselves with what they are capable of doing."

The monthly sessions run at the St Augustine's Parish Centre on Larchfield Street from 2pm until 4pm on the third Thursday of the month. The next event will see members make printed Christmas cards.

Anyone interested in joining can turn up on the day or email hello@pimmsandneedles.co.uk for more information.
