CUSTOMERS are being encouraged to pop-in to a new pop-up shop where every purchase helps support care for the terminally ill.

Business has been brisk since St T’s new outlet opened on Darlington’s High Row and staff say they have been delighted by the response from town shoppers.

The shop, which is in the former Mountain Warehouse premises, is a satellite of St T’s Superstore, in McMullen Road, and complements its other town centre outlet in Skinnergate, all of which support St Teresa’s Hospice.

It stocks furniture, home accessories, art, mirrors, soft furnishings, china and glassware.

Manager Rose Wills said: “It’s going really well, we’ve had some lovely comments from customers. People are really glad to see something new on High Row, rather than an empty shop, and they’re excited about something new.

“It’s like entering a treasure trove, even for me, because you never know what’s going to be donated. There’s something new every day. None of us knows when we might need the hospice and donating or purchasing is a chance to support the free care we provide.”

St Teresa’s Hospice has ten shops in a growing retail chain, as well as an eBay online store, which contribute to the £2.4m the charity needs each year.
