MORE than £1,000 was raised at a charity coffee morning recently.
People flocked to Hurworth Village Hall last month to enjoy an event organised by Michelle Edwards.
They enjoyed a variety of stalls, refreshments and a tombola during the coffee morning, organised in aid of Macmillan Cancer Care.
The event raised £1,230 for the charity, which provides support to those battling cancer and their loved ones.
Organisers also made enough to purchase a new tea boiler for the village hall, as thanks to those who run it for their support.
Ms Edwards: "I've been doing these events for six or seven years and I think this is the most we've ever made.
"The coffee morning went really, really well and I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of people that came, it was very well attended.
"I want to support Macmillan as much as I can because I've lost a couple of people I know to cancer and I think we'd be lost without the charity, it does an excellent job."
She added: "We were allowed to use the village hall in exchange for a donation and I thought a tea boiler would be good as so many people use the hall - hopefully it will last them for years."
Ms Edwards thanked all who had helped to support the latest event and said she was thrilled to raise more than £1,000.
