Police meeting

DARLINGTON Police are inviting people to meet their local detectives at a programme of upcoming community safety roadshows. The roadshows will be hosted by officers from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) throughout October and November. The Darlington events are: Middleton St. George, Dinsdale Court Community Room – Wednesday, November 7, 4pm-7pm; Firthmoor, Firthmoor Community Centre – Tuesday, November 13, 4pm-7pm; West End, Wyvern Academy – Thursday, November 15, 4pm-7pm; North Road, The Word of Life International Christian Centre, Corporation Road – Tuesday, November 20, 4-7pm. All are welcome to attend.

Cookery demo

A COOKERY demonstration will be held at Heighington Village Hall on Friday October 5. Hosted by the Heighington Women’s Institution as part of its centenary celebrations, the demonstration will be from 7 to 7.30pm. Tickets can be bought at the door for £5 which includes a free glass of wine.

Library events

THERE is going to be a series of event at Darlington’s Crown Street Library to celebrate National Libraries Week. It gets underway on Monday, between 4.30pm and 5.30pm, when visitors are invited to come along and meet the creator of Rastamouse, Michael DeSouza, for an afternoon filled with mischief, music and mystery.
