THE Head of Steam – Darlington Railway Museum has issued an invitation to educational groups to climb aboard to help make leaning fun.
The museum has a packed programme of pre-bookable visits that are free to educational groups including schools, nurseries, home educators and uniformed groups such as Brownies, Cubs or Scouts.
Activities on offer can support learning in a wide range of topics from local history and the railways to creative writing, the arts and science, technology, engineering and maths subjects.
Sarah Gouldsbrough, learning and access officer at the museum, said: “Our most popular workshop is about the development of the early railways and the opening of the Stockton and Darlington Railway.
"Groups come to our beautiful station building, which lies on the original route, and are able to get hands on with a variety of objects, imagine they are at the opening of the railway and explore the many objects and displays."
To mark the centenary of the end of World War One, this term the museum will include workshops on the Railways in WW1 as well as others looking at 100 years since some women and all men got the vote.
