A RESIDENT group is holding a summer event hoping to boost community spirit in the area.

The Friends of Red Hall are holding their summer fair on August 12 at the community green.

The group are welcoming all Darlington residents and hope the fair will become an annual event.

Treasurer of the Friends of Red Hall, Anthony Routledge said: “It would be great to see the kids running around smiling. I remember when I was a youngster everybody knew each other and that’s what I want to bring back to the community.

“We want to bring more activities here so that the people of Red Hall can do more with their kids either free or as cheaply as possible."

The community group has organised shows including a Little Circus put on by Stockton International Riverside Festival who will also offer workshops to residents interested in learning circus acts.

Mr Routledge added: "I just want people to support it, if they support it this year it will be bigger and better next year."

A medieval music group will also perform and residents will be offered the chance to step inside a space simulator.

Rides will also arrive on the day for the younger children organised by the group.

The event will take place from 11:00am to 5.00pm.
