A MUCH-loved hospice is encouraging its supporters to celebrate its nurses following the anniversary of Florence Nightingale's birth.

International Nurses' Day was held on Saturday to honour the care and support nurses give 24 hours a day.

Darlington's St Teresa’s Hospice employs nurses working in its inpatient unit, day hospice “choices” programme and specialist clinics, and community hospice services including Hospice at Home and the Rapid Response Service.

The highly-trained nurses at St Teresa’s Hospice provide medical care and emotional support for more than 1,000 patients and their families each year.

St Teresa’s Hospice is urging those touched by their work to share their stories online to celebrate a nurse who made a difference to them or their loved ones, at facebook.com/stteresashospice or on Twitter using @StTeresas
