A COMMUNITY care project has reinforced its commitment to supporting residents in need by appointing two new members of staff.

The Darlington Cares organisation has delivered more than 75 volunteer projects for the town’s schools and charities since 2012.

Newly-appointed director, Seth Pearson who will continue with his role as director of Darlington Partnership, said: “Darlington Cares has big plans for the future.

“The aim is to do even more work in Darlington’s communities, get more volunteers involved in projects and that’s why we’ve grown the team to allow us to achieve this.”

As new programme officer, Chelsea Johnson will create and run Darlington Cares programme across the organisation’s three target areas in education, environment and social justice.

She said: “Darlington Cares is a fantastic organisation, its volunteers help so many people around Darlington, from giving out food boxes at the food bank, to litter picking around the town centre, and I’m so proud to be a part of the team that’s going to help develop even more great projects.”
