THE sun shone on Darlington’s town square as people came together to enjoy lively music and a tasty afternoon tea.
The popular Tea Dance returned this Thursday, where a crowd of guests were treated to music, live dancing, and free scones in the glistening sun.
Organised by the town’s GOLD community (Growing Older Living in Darlington), the event allows local elderly people to have a dance, a bite to eat, and a chance to acquaint themselves with organisations in the area.
The mayor, Councillor Jan Taylor, made an appearance at the event, and said: “We are fortunate in Darlington because we can showcase what Darlington residents can enjoy. It’s been fabulous.”
Maureen Catterick a representative of Darlington’s Lifeline service, said: “It brings the elderly people together. Sometimes they don’t get to see people, so the event keeps them in touch with each other.”
Diane Chandler, director of Home Instead senior care, said: "It’s always lovely to see people having a great time, and they can also get information on support available to them."
