BROWNIES have been learning how to help save the planet by recycling waste.
The 27th Darlington Brownies contacted Darlington Borough Council to ask how they could get more involved in recycling.
Recycling Officer Phillippa Scrafton sent pads and pencils, made out of newspaper, so they could record how much they recycled, and information to encourage their friends and family to reuse waste materials.
The Brownies also visited Asda, in Whinbush Way, where they dropped off rubbish for recycling and were shown how the supermarket recycles its waste.
Brownie helper Karen Johnson said: "They really enjoyed the visit and learnt a lot about how to recycle, and were very impressed that the pencils were made from newspapers."
