DOZENS of primary school children descended on Branksome School, in Darlington, yesterday, in a battle for sporting supremacy.
Branksome hosted a sports day for 200 pupils from Alderman Leach, Mount Pleasant, Reid Street and Cockerton CE schools.
Zoe Gage, Darlington Borough Council's school sports co-ordinator, said the competition was very close throughout the day, but Cockerton CE Primary School were victorious.
She said: "Everyone involved had a really enjoyable time. Not only did the children learn new skills, but they also made new friendships."
Activities included a climbing wall, archery and trampolining. Staff were assisted by more than 30 Branksome students.
Brendon Fitzmaurice, Branksome's head of physical education, said: "The event has been an excellent example of the staff from local schools working together for the benefit of the young people of Darlington. I would like to see more of them."
Aaron Clark, a year six pupil at Cockerton, said: "I liked all of the things we did, but the climbing wall was my favourite."
Callum McVay, also from Cockerton Primary, said: "I have enjoyed my day."
