A COMPANION for life who has seen hundreds of rescue dogs rehomed ahead of him is still on the search for a new home.
Barney, a three-year-old German Shepherd, has been cared for by staff at Dogs Trust Darlington since January with 500 of his kennel mates being rehomed around him since the start of 2017.
Sue Embleton, rehoming centre manager at Dogs Trust Darlington, said: “The team are delighted to have found new homes for so many dogs already, but Barney is a representation of how much we still have to achieve.
“Dogs come in all shapes, sizes, breeds and characters – it is up to us to find the right families for each one of them.
“We believe there is someone out there for every dog and it is important to give dogs like Barney every chance they can to find that person, especially if they are at risk of being overlooked by potential owners.”
