VOLUNTEERS are needed to help run a bereavement service.

Cruse Bereavement Care is building a team of trained volunteers to work at its offices in Darlington, Middlesbrough and Guisborough.

The volunteers will form the area support team and will undertake the Cruse Foundation Course in Bereavement Care, an Open College of the North-West level two-accredited course.

There are 18 places available on the course, which will run during normal office hours, one day each week over a three-month period. The course fee of £225 will be waived. Volunteers will also benefit from free continual personal development training.

All volunteers will undertake to give Cruse their services for a minimum of four hours each week over a minimum 12-month period. All candidates will be subject to initial assessment and must be able to use a computer. They must be comfortable taking and making calls to bereaved clients and health professionals.

For details call Angie Dillon, Tees Valley and Durham area administrator on 01325-355554 between 9.30am and 4.30pm, Monday to Friday.
