A DELICATESSEN'S Pork, Sage and Apple Pie has won a national award.
The pie, made by The Angel's Share, in Grange Road, Darlington, won the Grocery and Bakery category in Waitrose's Small Producer Awards.
Owner Alexandra Franks received the award at The Royal Show in Warwickshire.
Speaking later, she said: "I am thrilled to have achieved this recognition as a small producer."
Graham Cassie, who sources food for Waitrose, said: "The Cumbrian Pork, Sage and Apple Pie is simply delicious. The judges were impressed with Alexandra's enthusiasm for her products and her business.
"Her standards are very high and it shows."
The Angel's Share won £5,000, as well as the chance to be a supplier to Waitrose in some of its stores.
