A TEENAGER has been rewarded for her many hours of voluntary work.
Amy Savage, from Darlington, has taken part in information technology mentoring, fundraising during Fairtrade Fortnight and also worked for the YMCA.
The 16-year-old, from Carmel Road, has received a certificate in recognition of her work from Darlington scheme Citizens in Action, which provides volunteering opportunities for 14 to 16-year-olds.
She is now involved with the v-Millennium Volunteers Project, for 16 to 25-year-olds, and is to receive an award for her efforts on behalf of St Teresa's Hospice.
"I am not volunteering because it looks good on a CV," she said.
"I actually enjoy it and it helps me to learn new skills and gain confidence. It's great meeting new people and doing something for the community."
