A DARLINGTON homelessness charity has made an appeal for more volunteers.

The 700 Club, based at Grange Road Baptist Church, held an open day last week to raise awareness of its services for homeless people.

The charity runs two hostels, Hope House and St George's Hall, plus Stop2Night, a temporary shelter service for young people, and The Emma Project, which provides support to homeless people in gaining permanent accommodation.

The 700 Club will celebrate its tenth anniversary this year. It supports a large number of young people from the Darlington area and receives referrals from homeless charities, social services, Darlington Borough Council and many more.

The service is looking to recruit more volunteers to support Stop2Night, which is staffed solely by volunteers, and also to provide mentors for young people involved with The Emma Project.
