A TEENAGER who divides his time between studying for his A Levels and playing water polo on the international stage has clinched global success.
Michael Cousins, a mathematics, economics and modern history student at Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College (QESFC), has claimed a silver medal as part of England’s U17 2000 Men’s team.
He is one of thirteen national players who travelled to Brno, in the Czech Republic, earlier this month to compete in the water polo EU Nationals Cup.
His team defeated Scotland, Denmark, the Czech Republic and Switzerland, to reach the final round where they narrowly missed out on a gold medal after losing 8-6 to South Africa.
The student said: “I am really proud of my recent achievements and I am thankful for QE’s support of my sport.
“I have recently been selected for the U17 GB men’s team to play at the Junior European qualifiers in Manchester and I hope to push on and carry my success into the future at senior level.”
Alongside his sporting success, Michael aspires to work in the finance industry after achieving his A Levels.
