Ricky Ravenhill is the latest player to commit his future to Darlington after agreeing a new contract to stay at the club.

The midfielder joined Quakers in January, making 15 appearances, having started the season at Doncaster Rovers before short spells at Chester City and Grimsby Town.

Of those whose contracts expired this summer, six were offered new deals and Ravenhill follows Neil Wainwright and Kevin Burgess in deciding to stay at the 96.6TFM Darlington Arena.

That leaves just goalkeepers Sam Russell, David Stockdale and midfielder Clark Keltie to decide their futures.

Keltie was captain last season but the captain's armband next year will go to Steve Foster, who signed this week from Scunthorpe United, for whom he held the same position.

The experienced defender captained Iron's title-winning team this season, while he was also skipper at Doncaster under manager Dave Penney who, while at Belle Vue, described Foster as one of his best ever signings.

In selecting a new Quakers captain, Penney could have also gone for Alan White, who joined Darlington last week, as he was skipper at Notts County this season.

Coventry City have nudged ahead in the race to sign goalkeeper Dimi Konstantopoulos, while Hartlepool United have been hit with an increase to Andy Monkhouse's suspension.

Konstantopoulos, one of Pools' star performers in their promotion from League Two, is out of contract next month and has been attracting attention from numerous clubs.

Watford and Sheffield Wednesday have also been monitoring the situation, but Coventry are closing in on the player's signature.

Coventry tried to buy Konstantopoulos last summer but Pools are understood to have rejected the offer for the former Greece Under-21 international.

Despite the change of manager at the Ricoh Arena, Sky Blues boss Iain Dowie has maintained the club's interest in him, with Andy Marshall the only goalkeeper at his disposal.

Wilson heard yesterday Pools will be without Monkhouse for longer than he initially thought at the start of next season.

The Football Association's Disciplinary Commission has extended the left-winger's three game ban to five after being found guilty of violent conduct.
