PREPARATIONS are well under way for tomorrow’s launch of new book Darlo’s on the Up, written by Ray Simpson.

Around 60 former players and officials from Quakers’ promotion-winning sides over the past 50 years are due to attend the launch. Also invited are players who have provided special memories, such as Steve Gaughan, Neil Maddison, Phil Brumwell, Glenn Naylor, Steve Tutill, Marco Gabbiadini, Jamie Chandler and Sam Russell.

The book is a 256-page account of Darlington’s six successful campaigns, contains around 150 photos and includes memories from managers Lol Morgan, Cyril Knowles, Brian Little and Martin Gray, plus players such as John Peverell, Carl Airey and Kevan Smith. The price is £12.

Admission to the event at the Dolphin Centre is free and it starts at 2pm.
