TWO North-East choirs will be joining the ‘Rat Pack of Opera’ on stage at Darlington Civic Theatre after singing their way to victory.

The choirs - Voices of Darlington and STARE – were chosen to perform with professional singers Tenors Unlimited after winning a competition to find local choirs to appear on their hometown stage with the Tenors throughout their nationwide tour, From Venice to Vegas.

They will join the Tenors onstage on September 28 and Voices of Darlington's director, Claire Willmer, who also coaches singing with STARE is thrilled to be bringing the groups together for the performance.

She said:"It's an absolute pleasure to work with such enthusiastic, energetic people.

“I have such a passion for the voice and cannot wait to see the whole show come together.

“We're over the moon to be supporting Tenors Unlimited."

Voices of Darlington only launched in May this year and offers adults the opportunity to develop their voice and learn to sing whilst meeting new friends.

It is aimed at adults of all ages and capabilities and rehearses on Fridays at Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College in Darlington.

In the choir’s short time it has already performed at Darlington Community Carnival and The Mark Hammond Fundraiser in Cockerton.

STARE - Stagecoach Theatre Arts Regional Entertainers - is a group of young people aged 12 to 17 who both sing and dance across the region in aid of various charities.

They rehearse at Teesside High School on Sunday mornings and have performed at Her Majesty's Theatre in London, The Tyne Theatre in Newcastle and at various charity events in the North-East.
