PEOPLE can now walk the full length of High Row after work to install granite setts was completed.

Workers will now focus on completing the paving outside High Row's shops.

The area between West Row and Blackwellgate is being paved, which will mean the access ramp at the southern end of the scheme will be open for use again. After Easter, workers will concentrate on completing that paving.

Workers have also prepared the water feature so granite steps leading to the water cascade can soon be laid.

After Easter, workers will continue to pave around bus stand J on Tubwell Row, before moving on to work outside the Cornmill Centre entrance.

Martin Simpson, partnership manager of the Tees Valley Partnership, said: "It is excellent to see so many parts of the scheme are now being opened up to the public.

"With Northgate completed and the majority of High Row now unveiled, the pedestrianisation is now entering into its final and most exciting phase.

"With key features like the water feature now well under way and Life Pulse (an interactive light display) due to be installed in the near future, residents in Darlington are now getting a true picture of what their town centre will look like once the scheme comes to an end."
