A FAMILY is appealing for information after a number of sentimental items of jewellery were stolen during a burglary.
The incident happened between 8am and 3.30pm on Thursday, May 7, on Thornton Street, in Darlington, and a substantial amount of money was taken, as well as a black safe.
The safe contained a number of sentimental items of jewellery, including a broad gold wedding ring, three watches which belonged to the victim’s late grandmother, MP3 players, family photographs and a heavy gold chain with a broken clasp.
A silver signet ring was also stolen, which was created out of a piece of World War One plane by the victim’s great-grandfather as a gift for his wife, as well as gold and black cufflinks in a green box inscribed with the letter ‘C’.
Anyone with any information can call police on 101.
