TOMMY Wright's second half strike ensured victory for Darlington as Dave Penney's men moved to within one point of the play-offs.

The 1-0 win extends Darlington's unbeaten run to 13 games. And, after Wycombe were held to a draw by Walsall, Quakers are now point off a top seven spot ahead of next week's derby with Hartlepool United.

Quakers rode their luck in the first half and only some poor Hereford finishing let the home side off the hook.

But in the 67th minute Wright rose highest in the Hereford box to loop his header over goalkeeper Wayne Brown.

Sam Russell produced a superb point blank save to deny Danny Thomas in the 90th minute as Quakers hung on to secure a crucial win.
