HURWORTH Community Association is almost certain to secure a longer lease on the Hurworth Grange Community Centre.
The association has a one-year rolling lease from Hurworth Parish Council. But at a meeting earlier this week, councillors agreed to its request for a five-year lease, with a three-year review.
The change has to be approved by the parish council's solicitors.
The community association's secretary, Ian White, said: "This allows us to compete for funding previously unavailable on a one-year lease, especially security cameras."
"I would like to express our appreciation that the parish council agreed to our request."
