AN influx of residents in a Darlington street has caused parking chaos and created a boggy mess, according to a local councillor.
The renovation of three tower blocks was recently completed in Dinsdale Crescent. The blocks house about 60 people, but the development made no provision for extra car parking.
Residents of the street complained to ward councillor Ian Haszeldine that cars were parking on nearby grass verges and driving over a grassed area leading to Yarm Road.
Coun Haszeldine said: "Since the portable cabins and steel containers have gone, the residents have become very concerned about the illegal parking of vehicles on the grass verges outside the flats.
"It's become like a ploughed field. It is really badly rutted and the deep gouges have become flooded in the wet weather. The cars have created a terrible mess."
Coun Haszeldine met highways and housing officers from the council who agreed to find funding to resolve the problem.
Work will begin in April to cover the affected area with a hard surface.
