YOUNG people in Darlington are being given the chance to discover their talents at a music workshop with a difference.
Darlington College and the Northern School for Contemporary Music are holding DJ and drum skills sessions at The Forum, in the town, for young people of any level of physical abilities.
Anyone signing up for the course will be able to get to grips with a diverse range of music, including house, drum and bass, hip hop, trance and techno using the latest industry-standard digital DJ equipment.
College music tutor Steve Fox said: "This workshop is designed to give all young people the chance to get involved, regardless of any disabilities they may have, and experience making contemporary music with DJ skills, drum and percussion.
"We're trying to attract people who may be less physically able to participate, by getting the message across that music is not something just for able-bodied people - it's for everyone."
Six to eight people are wanted for the DJ course and about ten to 12 are needed for the percussion side. It is hoped the workshop will result in a performance and DJ night at the Borough Road venue.
Part-time DJ Graham Haughton, 30, of Darlington, who is a wheelchair user, has already signed up for the course.
He said: "There is not much out there for people with disabilities, so to come here and be able to play my music at The Forum is great."
