THE A1 has reopened after being closed in both directions when a trailer containing cattle overturned on the northbound carriageway near Scotch Corner.
North Yorkshire Police said at 3.45pm that the road was open again after a Land Rover and trailer flipped over at around 1pm.
The driver of the Land Rover was uninjured in the incident, and vehicle recovery services are at the scene of the incident to remove the Land Rover and the trailer from the carriageway.
A vet has also arrived at the scene to check if any cattle which were travelling in the trailer have been injured.
Motorists were advised to avoid the area.
