PLANS to renovate a rundown park went on show at the weekend in an attempt to canvas local opinion.
North Park, in Darlington, is to undergo a £300,000 transformation after funding for the work was pledged by Darlington Borough Council.
More than 200 people in the area have filled in questionnaires about what they would like to see in the park.
Visits have also been made to Harrowgate Hill Primary School, Longfield School, andlocal Brownies and Scouts.
Local people were invited to view the plans at Northlands Methodist Church, in North Road, on Saturday.
The Groundwork organisation, which ran the event, will work with the Friends of North Park group to continue the process.
New features could include a games area with fencing, a play area and a skate park.
One of the features that raised the most interest at Saturday's consultation was a bird's nest swing in the play park, which can also be used by disabled children.
Lisa Kwok, from Groundwork, said: "Things have been very positive. There is lots of issues in the park with safety and dog users.
"Parents are keen to get something in there for their children."
Work on the project could start next year.
