DOG CHECKS: Dog owners are invited to bring their pooches along for a free wellbeing check by veterinary charity PDSA. The charity will have a mobile pet check vehicle at the following locations: Asda, in Neasham Road, on Tuesday, May 7; Asda, in Whinbush Way, on Wednesday, May 8; Cockerton Green on Thursday, May 9; and North Lodge Park car park on Friday, May 10, from 9am to 4pm on each day. A PDSA veterinary nurse will examine the weight, teeth, eyes and general fitness of canine visitors, and general pet care advice. Microchipping and nail clipping is available for a small fee.

MEMORY LANE: An exhibition of photographs from the Cleveland Bridge Collection, showing its staff and operations over the decades, will go on display at Head of Steam – the Darlington Railway Museum, on North Road, tomorrow (Tuesday, May 7). The display has been arranged on the museum platform and is available during general opening hours until June. Normal museum entry fee applies.

WARD SURGERY: The ward councillors for Mowden, Ron Lewis and Bill Stenson, will meet local residents at Mowden Junior School tomorrow (Tuesday, May 7), between 6.30pm and 7.30pm.

FLOWER CLUB: The next meeting of the Darlington Chrysanthemum and Dahlia Society will include an illustrated talk by local and national exhibitor Geoff Gardener on the growing of dahlias. The group meets tomorrow (Tuesday, May 7) at the Copper Beech pub, in Neasham Road, Darlington, at 7.30pm. Non-members are welcome.

SILVER BAND: The Cockerton Prize Silver Band will perform at Holy Trinity Church, in Woodland Road, Darlington, on Sunday, May 12, at 7.30pm. LITTER PICK: The Heighington Parish Litter Group will meet for a litter pick on Saturday, May 11, at 10am. There are three meeting points: Heighington village hall; 2 Main Road, Redworth and Old Farm Cottage in School Aycliffe.
