THE man with responsibility for Darlington’s road network has told councillors that work is on track to deal with the town’s pothole problem.
Councillor David Lyonette, who holds the transport portfolio at Darlington Borough Council, said Spring was traditionally a bad time of year for potholes.
The issue was raised at a full meeting of the council, where Coun Ian Galletley, who represents College ward, said potholes were among the top issues for residents.
Coun Galletley added: “We’ve all heard horror stories about people going to garages with burst tyres, threatening to send the bill to the council. What are we doing about the problem?”
Coun Lyonette replied: “This time of year, no matter what authority you are talking about, potholes are always an issue.
“We are on schedule to repair the damage. Most people who travel around the town can see that work is being done and there is a lot more work planned to be carried out.”
