CHARITY THANKS: A charity event held in aid of The North East Autism Society and Education Centre for Children with Down Syndrome raised £2,580. The organisers of the event held at Cockerton Club, which featured a horse race night and live music, would like to thank those who attended and made the evening a success.

RIVER TALK: A meeting to discuss a new plan to improve the River Tees for local people and wildlife will be held at Middleton St George village hall tomorrow (Thursday, May 2). The Tees Catchment Plan will cover the entire length of the river – the organisers are hoping local residents will attend the meeting to give their memories and views on the river and how it has changed over the years. A drop-in event will be held between 4pm and 6pm, with a workshop between 6.30pm and 9pm. For more details contact Elizabeth Donkin on 01642-815663 or email elizabeth.donkin@groundwork.org.uk
